Jerusalem: An Overview
Recomended Products:
There is so much that one can say about Jerusalem but the most known fact about
Jerusalem is that it is indeed the most holist city in
the world.
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and is located atop
the Judean Mountains between the Mediterranean Sea and
the Dead Sea. Jerusalem once consisted of just the Old
City but now has outgrown the boundaries of the Old City
and is sectioned off in four different areas known as:
the Moslem Quarter, the Christian Quarter, the Jewish
Quarter and the Armenian Quarter.
The city was first selected by King David over 3,000 years
ago as the capital of Israel and to be the city of Jewish
faith. The city was founded in 1004 B.C. Through Jerusalem's
history a lot has happened, a lot of fighting, a lot of
blood has been shed and a lot rebellions have taken place
and still today there is much violence over religion that
takes place within the city walls.
However, Jerusalem has some sites to see upon touring
the city such as the Temple Mount that has been destroyed
and rebuilt more than once. It is also full of synagogues,
fortresses, mosques and Byzantine churches. It is also
a city that has bared witness to the crucifixion of Jesus
Christ and the ascension of Mohammad into heaven.
Jerusalem's history has made a huge impact on religions
around the world, mainly because within its city walls,
it is home to three of the world's most recognized religions.
